Working For Alameda

I believe that a municipal policy to encourage socially responsible investing is an effective way for residents to ensure that their tax dollars are spent responsibly.
When I joined the City Council in 2022 the investment policy prohibited city funds being spent on companies that make a profit from tobacco, gambling, coal and alconhol.
In June of 2024 I led the council to expand the prohibited investments to include fossil fuels and weapons manufacturers.

I am excited to represent Alameda on the StopWaste board where I develop and implement policies to help businesses, residents, and schools waste less, recycle properly, and use resources efficiently.
We are a public agency governed by the Alameda County Waste Management Authority, the Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board, and the Energy Council

I'm working on ways to make it easier to arrest and prosecute criminals. In 2023 I supported giving the City Prosecutor the authority to prosecute domestic violence crimes.
In June 2024 I joined all of my council colleagues in authorizing the purchase of two law enforcement drones, which will be used to respond to violent crime, disasters, and sideshows. We can and we will do everything necessary to keep the community, and first responders, safe from acts of violence.
